Day 2 - Bus excursion to the Eastern part of Sao Miguel
Today we went on a prearranged tour to the vulcanic mountain in Furnas. We visited a tea factory, had a very special lunch in Furnas. The food was prepared in the ground, in holes a few meters deep the food was steamed for apprx. 6 hours. It was different, but tasted really good. We also visited the Terra Nostra botanical garden. If we would like we could take a swim in the "Spring of youth". We backed off that one, as the water did not look at all inviting....

Stopped at a pineapple farm, went to the Lagoa do Fogo lake, tasted different liquers in Ribiera Brava, actually so much that a lot of people fell asleep in the bus....
Very beautiful scenery with the vulcanos and lakes.

Day 6 - Half day tour to a local farm
The last day of our Spring Break. We spent the morning walking Pedro Delgada again, and the afternoon was used on a tour to visit an old farm outside of Pedro Delgada. The farm was owned by a Swedish couple that bought the place in 2001. They have some bed and breakfast, they arrange horse riding for tourists, but also disabled children from Sao Miguel. A very nice couple, and a nice afternoon.
